A lot of us shoot with photo lenses. Vintage glass, a fast zoom, the lens that was already in the bag. They can look beautiful. They just were not built for a focus puller, a gimbal motor or a set where caps get lost. Here is what I change first.

Almost every follow focus and wireless focus motor in film uses "module 0.8" gears. That one number is why a printed gear fits your DJI, Tilta, ARRI or PD Movie motor. It is also why your gear's outside diameter never lands exactly where you typed it.

A focus gear is a simple part. It is also the part that tells you, very honestly, how well your printer holds its dimensions. Here is how I print mine so they fit the first time, or at least the second.

Your name on a lens cap is fun. A lens cap that falls off in the bag isn't. Fit first, font second.

Hard stops are great when your lens gives the motor nothing to calibrate against. They're useless when they're built for somebody else's motor.

The number on the front of your lens is great for buying filters. For a focus gear, it's useless. Here's what to measure instead.
